Springer Spaniel

FAQ: The springer spaniel portrait above seems very true to life. How long have you been painting portraits?

Answer: About as far back as I can remember! In my school days, my teachers would encourage me to paint (often instead of doing "proper" school work!). A number of years later I did a degree in art at the University of Chichester, and soon afterwards launched my own business. I've always loved portraiture because it combines two fascinations of mine - painting and conveying emotion. I always take a great deal of time over the eyes (such as in the springer spaniel above). It's important to get these right as they convey a great deal of the life and emotion of the animal.
