Framing your Portrait

Do you frame portraits? Can you offer any advice about framing a pastel portrait?

I don't frame and post portraits due to the high risk of damage to glass involved.

When you receive your portrait I recommend visiting your local framing shop for mounting and framing the work. Pastel works should be framed with a mount behind nonreflective glass to protect the portrait from accidental smudging. I don't use a fixative spray on the work as this leads to discolouration.

If you are on a tight budget, you may also wish to consider buying a frame (with an included mount) online and then framing the work yourself. Either way, I always recommend framing the portrait as soon as possible behind glass to protect the work from damage.
